Thank you for the beautiful sitrep. It will be such a loss to America-In-Ruins when you leave it behind, but as you note, no one questions your choice. I was a giant shipwreck geek when I was a kid--must have read A Night to Remember at least twelve times. I've never understood what I was up to with that. Something about the tragic beauty of doomed human ambition? Not sure if I was thinking about it at that level, but that's the narrative frame frequently used by shipwreck writers...
